Interstate Communications will be offering FREE Internet/Computer classes to our customers.  Classes will be held from 6:00pm to 7:00pm on the 3rd Tuesday of each month in our office at: 105 N. West St. Truro, Iowa.

  • August 21 - Getting Started on the Internet

  • October 16 - Introduction to Streaming Video

  • December 18 - Working with Digital Photos

May 15: eBay: Getting Started
This introductory class to the online auction leader covers all the basics: registration, searching, feedback, using PayPal, and more. Conflict resolution is discussed and customers are encouraged to bring their personal experiences.

June 19: eBay: Listing and Selling

This class discusses:
- Listing items using proven listing strategies
- Getting greater visibility
- E-commerce and security topics
- Conflict resolution

Customers are encouraged to bring their own personal experiences to discuss!

July 17: Online Fraud
An important topic for your customers, this class covers current Internet scams, ways to identify a scam, and what can be done if victimized.

August 21: Getting Started on the Internet
This class provides an overview of what the Internet is; how your customers connect to and interact with it; and a brief summary of various popular services available to them. Think of it as an intro to all of the above topics that customers can then request more info on for future lessons!

September 18: Internet Security
This timely and important course deals with adware, spyware, phishing, malicious e-mail and other threats. Anti-virus software and firewall protection are discussed. This is a good chance to educate your customers on the threats on the Internet and to introduce them to SecureIT Plus if your company resells that product.

October 16: Introduction to Streaming Video
This session introduces attendees to what streaming video is and a primer on services available on the Internet at large, both free and pay. Basic troubleshooting of potential issues is also discussed.

November 20: Online Shopping
This class discusses the benefits of shopping online as well as addressing privacy/security concerns your customers may have. Discussions of various online shopping resources are presented as well.

December 18: Working with Digital Photos
This class introduces participants to a free piece of software that enables them to easily import, sort, crop, adjust, and manipulate digital photos. How to print photos, have them printed and mailed to you, and how to e-mail them to others is also included. This is not a class on digital photography, but a tutorial on working with the resulting digital photos.
